Why this ranch

Simple to live in. Made for here.

One level for everyday life

Bedrooms, kitchen and living space all on the main level.

A full basement below

Room for mechanicals and storage. If you finish it later, that work usually needs its own permit, and any basement bedroom needs an egress window.

Three stalls of garage

Room for the vehicles, plus the snowblower, the mower and everything else that shouldn't sit outside in January.

The plan set

Nine sheets, fully dimensioned.

The Birchwood 2110 set is drawn at 1/4 in. = 1 ft on 24 × 36 in. sheets. Here's what the nine sheets cover.

About the roof trusses: your truss supplier provides the engineered truss drawings for your site's snow load. The truss layout sheet is what they work from.

Good to know before you buy

  • Your building official reviews every plan, and may ask for changes or added details.
  • Some items may need a Minnesota-licensed engineer, such as heavily loaded beams, long spans or poor soils.
  • The set doesn't include a site plan. That depends on your lot, your survey and your setbacks.
  • Building in northern Minnesota (Zone 7)? Ask about insulation and frost-footing changes.
  • Outside Minnesota? Check your state's rules on who may prepare house plans.
